Fairfield Project is Approved!

 In news_events

After 5+ years of planning and preparation, we are excited to officially announce that we are moving forward with the construction of our new 3-home build project in Fairfield on Woolner Avenue! We have acquired the land, gone through a rigorous assessment phase, and are eager to begin the groundbreaking and build process. The lot, which has been vacant for decades, will one day soon provide housing for three deserving families, including one Veteran family.

All three homes (pictured above) will have three bedrooms, two baths, a one-car garage and contain 1,289 square feet of living space. Qualified homeowners will contribute sweat equity hours toward the construction of their future home, and will pay an affordable mortgage. We are currently in the family-selection process for all three homes, and fundraising is underway.

“We have spent a lot of time over the past five years figuring out how to turn this vacant piece of land into affordable housing for local low-income families,” said Andrew Killeen, Executive Director of SNHFH. “We are grateful to the Fairfield Housing Authority and the County of Solano for all their support along the way – we certainly could not have brought this project to fruition without their support and willingness to collaborate.”

Thanks to our local partners, donors, and volunteers, we will soon be building three houses in partnership with three families, so they can buy a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. Click here to contribute to this exciting project, and stay tuned for volunteer opportunities!
