Napa Parsonage Renovation
Our organization recently completed its 27th critical repair project—this time, a meaningful restoration of a historic parsonage located on Jefferson Street in Napa. The project was a collaboration with Napa Valley Lutheran Church and brought together 18 core Habitat volunteers, service members from Travis Air Force Base, and community members. They worked to restore the building’s historic redwood siding, improve curb appeal, and remove aging vinyl siding and asbestos. The house now serves as the residence for Rev. Stephanie Johnson, who joined the church in November 2023.
“This project signals to our neighbors that we care about the neighborhood, and we want to be partners,” said Rev. Johnson in this recent Napa Valley Register article. Church member and volunteer Leanne Martinson echoed that sentiment: “We want to have pride in our community, and we want a nice place for our pastor to call home.”
“It’ll make a big impact,” said SNHfH’s project manager Jerry Castanon. “It beautifies the neighborhood and inspires our volunteers, too.”
The project was jointly funded by the church, which covered paint and supply costs, and Habitat provided the tools and labor. While new home construction is limited in Napa due to high land costs, projects like these allow Habitat to make a visible difference. The restoration serves as both a neighborhood investment and a hopeful sign of more opportunities to do projects in Napa County in the future.
Thanks to all the volunteers and community partners who helped make this project possible!
