Sponsor Spotlight: City of Rio Vista
On January 28th we held our first-ever virtual dedication ceremony for the Rio Vista Veterans’ Residence, and we were grateful to have the City of Rio Vista’s financial support as a Gold sponsor on the Veterans’ project. We are also grateful to Mayor Ron Kott of the City of Rio Vista for his participation in this milestone event as one of our featured speakers, and below we’ve included an excerpt of his message:
“This is a great day for our Veterans, for Post 178, and for our city. A large percentage of Rio Vista residents are seniors, and a large number of those seniors are Veterans. Therefore, it’s gratifying to me to see that our city includes a very active Veterans group with strong leadership. They have actively engaged with the City, with the County, with Berkeley Food & Housing Project, and Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity to make this project a reality.
In a relatively short period of time, in fact almost at lighting speed, they went from concept, to fundraising, to construction, to finished product. Now they’re talking of doing it again with another housing unit. And they did it with the involvement of our community, with a lot of our trades stepping up to volunteer to help in the construction process to work through problems in a timely fashion to get this project going and completed in a very short timeframe. The City enthusiastically supported this effort by directing County redevelopment funds to this project.
This project will not only provide housing for six homeless Veterans, but for many years to come this housing will be in place. It also demonstrates the City’s commitment to provide affordable housing, and we will continue to pursue that goal in the future. So thanks again to all that participated to make this a reality.”
Thank you Mayor Ron Kott for your support and encouragement, and we look forward to partnering on future projects that benefit the Rio Vista Community!
