Teaming Up For Veterans

 In news_events

On Thursday May 11th, a team of 250 volunteers from Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity, The Home Depot Foundation, and Tug McGraw Foundation joined forces to work on projects supporting Veterans and first responders.

The teams, pictured above and below, met at the Vallejo Veterans Memorial Building to complete significant repairs and improvements to the VFW/American Legion Post 550 including flooring, new paint, landscaping, and the installation of new seating. Our construction team prepared kits so volunteers could build garden planter boxes, play houses, adirondack chairs, little libraries, benches, and more.

“Today is just an incredible thing we’re doing to help veteran families across the area,” said Sean Vissar, Manager of Programs and Partnerships with The Home Depot Foundation. “It took a lot of planning, but then we put it all together in about four hours because all the tools are laid out for us by the various organizations. It’s wonderful to be part of working with so many organizations, each one of them with a team of dedicated and special people.”

We are grateful to the dedicated and mighty crews of The Home Depot Foundation and Tug McGraw Foundation for their hard work and annual partnership to support local Veterans and their families. We are already looking forward to next year!
