Thank you, LC Naylor!

 In news_events

Congratulations to LC Naylor for being named Volunteer of the Year! LC has been volunteering for SNHfH for 6 years on our construction sites as part of our Regulars Team and we are so fortunate to have him. We recently sat down with LC to learn a little bit more about him and why he initially got involved with Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity (SNHfH). We are so grateful to LC for his hard work and dedication! See below for our complete interview with LC Naylor.

How/When did you first become involved with SNHfH?

“After I retired from United Airlines as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in May of 2013, I knew I wanted to stay busy and continue to be active. I had heard about Habitat for Humanity because of their association with Jimmy Carter and so I decided to look into it. One of the things that interested me was that they built low income housing for people in need and most of the building was primarily done by volunteers. So I started in June of 2013 and have been with SNHfH ever since.”

What makes you excited about volunteering for us?

“Overall I like working with the volunteer Regular Crew. They come out to the jobsites three or more times a week to help build the houses from the ground up or to help someone in need of critical repairs on their home. I look forward to going to the job sites and working with the volunteers because they come from all walks of life, some are retired, military, or from different occupations. Some volunteers who come out to our jobsites have never used a hammer or driven a nail. Many of them do not have any prior experience yet they come out and volunteer to help build to make a family’s dream of owning a home come true.”

What do you envision moving forward in your roll here?

“I see myself continuing to volunteer and be a part of the construction team for as long as I can.”

Why is Volunteerism so important to SNHfH?

“Without volunteers we would not be able to accomplish what we do.”
