Volunteer Spotlight: Marlene Silva

 In news_events

ReStore just wouldn’t be ReStore without our energetic volunteer, Marlene Silva. She is not just a volunteer, she is ReStore family!

After a 39-year career as a K-12 math and English as a second language teacher in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, Marlene tired of retirement. She wanted to keep busy while giving back to her local community. She has achieved this goal in a very big way. Without fail, Marlene brings hard work, dedication, and a contagious joyful energy to our staff and store while volunteering. Her positive can-do attitude is pure pleasure for all to be around.

Marlene is amazed at the variety of volunteer opportunities in our ReStore. “There are so many things that need to be done in the store to get that ReStore non-profit dollar,” she says.

Her many former students cherish her to this day for the profound motivational impact she made on their lives. She inspires us as well, every day. How very lucky we are that Marlene chose SNHFH ReStore as her second act of contributing to the betterment of those around her. Saying “Thank you” just doesn’t cover it, but we endlessly do!
