We Broke Ground in Vallejo!

 In news_events
On Tuesday, July 12th, Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity hosted a groundbreaking ceremony in Vallejo, celebrating with gold shovels on the plot of land that will soon become a home for a local family. Several staff members, board members, and volunteers from the organization attended the ceremony, as well as sponsors and local dignitaries, including Mayor Osby Davis who led the acknowledgements. Vallejo’s city manager Daniel Keen and Solano County district representatives including Tom Bartee, Belinda Smith, Mel Orpilla, and Mike Wilson also attended the one-hour event.

The property is located on the 700 block of Tregaskis Avenue, a lot that is now barren, but will soon hold a 4-bedroom home for a deserving family who will put in hundreds of sweat equity hours and receive an interest-free home. It’s the first Habitat home built in Vallejo in 20 years, and we are excited to move forward on the project! Fundraising for the project is underway, and tax-deductible donations can be made online.
