Woolner Dedication Ceremony

 In news_events

This past Saturday, on November 16th, 2024, we hosted a joyous dedication ceremony on Woolner Avenue in Fairfield, celebrating the completion of our first-ever three-home build! The event, attended by nearly 200 community members, marked a significant milestone in our mission to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing for local families. Attendees, including local government officials, sponsors, and Habitat volunteers, toured the homes following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, seeing firsthand the impact of their collective contributions.

The dedication event honored the three hardworking families who partnered with Habitat, contributing up to 500 hours of sweat equity to help build their homes. The ribbon-cutting symbolized the beginning of a new chapter for these families, as they received their keys and begin moving into their newly constructed homes. The event also recognized the essential contributions of government agencies, corporate sponsors (listed below), individual donors, and volunteers who made the project possible.

“This day has been a long time in coming,” said Andrew Killeen, CEO of Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity. “Eight years ago, we spotted this vacant lot, and today we celebrate what’s possible through Habitat’s concept of Partnership Housing. These homes represent not only a safe and secure place to live but also the collective efforts of those with the means to support families in need. This is a hand-up, not a handout, to our Partner Families who will be buying the homes from SNHfH and we are so grateful to everyone who helped turn this dream into reality.”

Board President Tina Norman shared her excitement and gratitude: “The Woolner home project is a triple blessing! These three beautiful new homes, built with love and persistence, are life-changing for the families moving in. This project would not have been possible without the compassion and support of government officials, donors, and volunteers. It has been an honor and privilege to work alongside everyone involved.”

This three-home build is a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration and community spirit. Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported this landmark project!
